whatnot

many (or actually really just one or two) things weighing on my mind.
I don't really know how to handle/ deal/ whatever it is I can do.

maybe its part and parcel of life.
maybe that's how it is.
maybe its a good learning lesson.
maybe its a way of reminding myself that things happen for a reason.

maybe.
maybe I will only know a few years down the road.

Tainan -> Taichung -> Taipei // day 5, 6 & 7 (BACK TO SG)! //

Here to finish up my Taiwan adventures post hahaha.
I'm going to put all the last 3 days together~~
day 5 was spent travelling from Tainan to Taichung, day 6 was from Taichung to Taipei and the non-existent 7th day because we were heading back to Singapore :)

After a good night's rest, we went for some traditional Tainan breakfast before heading up North!


NOM NOM! I really love Taiwanese rice, they are short and fat like jap rice YUMMY.

had MOS BURGER for our pit stop break.

then drove all the way to Taichung and went up some mountain for tea break~

we all got a set each but we were still full BURPS. hahaha.
so didn't manage to eat much.

after finishing our meal, we decided to explore the surroundings of the cafe/restaurant YAY!







then drove down to the city for our dinner!
as you can tell, we did not STOP eating at all omg.

I don't remember what's the name of the steak house but its quite nice and the ambience is good.

then DAY 6 next!
we took a train back to Taipei ^^


window shopping at the family mart in the train station hahaha.


and of course, had to order my bento again hahaha.

we went to Shilin Night Market 士林夜市 at night for more food hehe.
but I didn't take pic of everything we ate cos we just walked around randomly.
The two dishes below were really good though!
got them at a random shop in the corner.




the rice was so so flavourful DAYUM!
we bought a packet back after that, IT'S JUST TOO GOOD!!


and supper... OOPS.

went for some last minute shopping at carrefour hehe.


TADA!
now you can have DIN TAI FUNG dumplings everywhere hahaha.

and we went back to SG the next day!!

Overall, it was an awesome trip and the Taiwanese are really friendly and nice people :)
I really enjoyed the food too YAY!

Taipei -> Taichung -> Tainan // day 3 & 4 //

DAY 3 of our adventure was the most tiring one I think hahah.
We went from Taipei to Taichung to put our stuff and then went to Tainan in the evening.

We were contemplating not to head to Tainan because there were some dengue cases..
but we decided that we would take the risk whoops.
So I bought some long sleeve tops/long skirts (more excuses to shop) and also mosquito repellent.

AND OFF WE GO!
we took the 高铁／高鐵 (bullet train-ish) to Taichung.
Its the more expensive option compared to taking a bus or whatever but its much faster and more convenient.


of course my dream was to try the rice box heheh.
I've always watched this in variety shows so naturally I WANTED TO EAT IT.

 
sadly... it was ok only...
we didn't buy other flavours cos we were preparing for lunch in Taichung.
so just eat for fun!

arrived in TAICHUNG!

I think the train ride took about 1hour plus only or something.

SUPER FAST.

it's like a mini hotpot.. you can choose the flavours.

this is the cheese one~ I preferred the kimchi one cos its SPICY!!

then we went to order pastries (for us to bring back to Singapore)

we would only be back after 2 nights but they allow advance orders so YAY.

bought those local products like 太阳饼，月饼 etc.

then we drove to TAINAN!

we had a car cos one of my friend is a Taiwanese so his family has one.

an alternative is to take a cab I guess or take the high speed train.

Tainan has a very different feel from Taipei...

its more homely, not so city-ish.

and of course we had to.... EAT!

we also went to walk around the touristy areas, like the old town. 

very very nice ambience, even though it was drizzling if I remember correctly.

even our airbnb is very hipster-ish.

one of the prettiest airbnb I have stayed in.

but it is a bit inconvenient because there is only 1 toilet and it is on the first floor while our rooms are on the second and third.

and the stairs are very steep hahah.

but the beds were comfy :)

... THE NEXT DAY...

(day 4)

WE ATE SOME MORE (!!!)

chanced upon this dessert cafe selling their traditional stuff with japanese flavours infused inside.

where we got our glutinous rice from.

we only left the house at about 4pm OMG HAHAHA.

in the morning we bought all the food and ate in the house.

WE WENT TO THE BEACH NEXT!

our light dinner ^^

because we wanted to go to the night market after dinner.

we went all the way to some ulu museum where we learned how to play drums.

we spent abit of time there before heading for more food.

THE NIGHT MARKET!!

really very smelly OMG.

this was 'Singapore Laksa' HAHAHHA.

go taiwan to eat Singapore food.

but it tasted quite close to ours, except with abit of sweetness.

fried fish.

we ate SO SO SO MUCH.

and played alot of games too!

2 nights in Tainan was fun!! and we headed back to Taichung the following afternoon.

as you can see/tell/observe, I'm getting lazier in my description HAHAH.

TILL THE NEXT~
